Christian Dior was represented at the Costume Institute Gala that celebrated the opening of the exhibition ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13) in New York with three attendees.
Yara Shahidi and Dior have hit a sweet spot of late, and that was highlighted by this custom Dior Haute Couture brown embroidered silk dress with a gold tulle cape.
Her look was inspired by Josephine Baker who was dubbed as the “Black Venus” and “Creole Goddess.”
She was also known for her iconic looks and beauty that symbolized Black American culture during the 1920s and made her an international star.
I’m definitely getting a 1920s vibe from Yara’s look which exudes elegance.
This was another shining example of how opera gloves can work on a red carpet look without it feeling dated.
Cartier jewels completed her look.
Another look to add to my favourites on the night.
Cara Delevingne wore a Dior Haute Couture white look which made a totally different kind of statement.
The message “Peg the patriarchy” in bold red lettering, was about “women’s empowerment” and “gender equality.”
“If anyone doesn’t know what this word is, you’re going to have to look it up because I’m not going to explain it,” she said, referring to the term “peg” when asked on the red carpet.
If you don’t know, I would advise you not to google it at work.
Rachel Zegler wore a Dior Haute Couture Spring 2021 draped dress with “The Empress” motif in multicolored dévoré velvet.
This is a lot of dress, but Rachel manages to not be overwhelmed by it.
The actress styled her look with Dior Fine Jewelry.
