Chanel invited a host of stars – including two ladies making their debut – to join them to celebrate the 2021 Met Gala ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (September 13).
Fresh from serving up three Chanel looks at Venice Film Festival while promoting her new film ‘Spencer’, Kristen Stewart was no doubt head of the table considering her long working relationship with the brand.
She wore a Chanel Spring 2021 Haute Couture look featuring a ruffled pink and black ennobled lace vest and blouse with white tweed pants adorned with an embroidered braid.
From the top I’m getting a Western vibe which plays into the American fashion theme.
We all know that Kristen loves to showcase her legs, so this might have been a tough compromise.
Kristen has given us some questionable hair and makeup for the Met Gala. Remember her 2019 Met Gala look?
So I was happy to see her serve up an impeccable hair and beauty look.
I particularly love the 1950s vintage high ponytail and pinup fringe.
Lily-Rose Depp wore a Chanel Spring 2015 Haute Couture pink sequin bustier top and skirt embroidered with pink and black flowers in tulle and silk organza with sequins and glass beads.
I didn’t detect a theme, but did detect plenty of Parisian elegance, which I did expect.
Margaret Qualley always looks delicate.
She wore a Chanel Spring 2020 Haute Couture dress embroidered entirely with floral motifs in pastel, white and silver tones.
The whimsical maxi length left enough room to showcase white Chanel boots.
I think the styling helps prevent this from looking like a Victorian nightgown.
Pharrell and Helen Williams also appeared to be channelling a western vibe twinning in their Chanel Pre-Fall 2014 leather outfits complete with their western toe cap boots, and Chanel Fine jewels.
Gossip Girl actress Whitney Peak was my favourite from the Chanel attendees.
She wore a stunning Chanel Fall 2020 Haute Couture gown black and navy petticoat dress with a fully embroidered tweed effect sequin top and ruffled skirt in taffeta and ennobled lace.
It’s the detail and the delicacy for me.
And I adore the teased afro and contrasting eye makeup.
When it comes to the British tennis player and Emma Raducanu, life really comes at you fast.
She became the 2021 US Open Champion on the weekend, and by Monday she’s at the Met Gala wearing Chanel Resort 2021, and wearing it well.
I love the youthful energy of the print, and the styling which included the pearl and jewel accented belt we saw on the runway.
I think she’s found a great home with the Chanel family, I’m excited to see more from her.
