Apple celebrates 105 years of America’s National Parks with content, donations
Apple is celebrating the 105th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. National Park Service with a donation campaign and park-related content across its services.
Some of the content includes 24 curated guides in Apple Maps from the National Park Foundation. Apple is also highlighting the official National Park Service app as its App Store app of the day, and is curating a separate collection of apps for hikers.
In Apple TV+, the company has published a collection of shows that include Ken Burns miniseries “The National Parks: America’s Best Idea” and nature-related documentaries like “Free Solo.” Apple Podcasts and Apple Books will have a similar slate of park-related content, and Apple Music will feature a new “Nature Awaits” playlist.
On Aug. 28, Apple will also challenge Apple Watch users to complete a hike, walk, run, or wheelchair workout of at least one mile. Those who finish the challenge will earn a limited edition award and animated iMessage stickers.
