Apple releases fourth public beta of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, watchOS 8, macOS Monterey
Apple has released the fourth beta of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, watchOS 8, and macOS Monterey to members of its public software testing program.
The new betas include design changes to Safari that undo some of Apple’s more controversial decisions for the browser. The iOS 15 update also adds full support for the MagSafe Battery Pack, so relevant information appears in the system UI.
The macOS Monterey beta lets users try the new Live Text feature on Intel-based Macs. The machine learning-heavy feature will likely perform better with the M1 processor, but the feature still works on Intel machines.
AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don’t install the betas on to “mission-critical” or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices and ensure sufficient backups of important data before updating.
