It isn’t every day that you see a recipe engraved on a headstone, but Utah grandma Kay Andrews wanted to make sure her memory lived on far beyond her full 97 years. The stone that marks Kay’s grave displays a delicious fudge recipe that is reflective of its creator’s sweet personality. As someone who was known for being extremely generous, Kay asked that her signature recipe be etched within granite for all to see. Kay’s fudge is creamy, rich, and truffle-like. Like life itself, it’s something to be savored.
Dark chocolate works best.
Slowly combine milk with butter and chocolate.
Marble helps to cool fudge evenly.
Fudge is sensitive to elevation and humidity. If you live in a very humid environment, use 3/4 cup milk
- 2 Squares Chocolate *I used a 5oz bar of dark chocolate
2 Tablespoons of butter
1 Cup Milk
3 Cups White Granulated Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
Melt chocolate squares with butter on low heat
Stir in milk until incorporated and bubbling
Sift in sugar and salt
Add vanilla, stir
Heat while stirring until 273 degrees F
Remove from heat and pour onto marble slab
Chill for 3 hours or overnight
Cut and serve
