Microsoft Teams for Mobile Will Soon Get Powerful Translation Tools
The gradual shift towards remote work has made it easy to talk to people worldwide without leaving your sofa. Microsoft wants to make it even easier to connect internationally with some translation tools for Teams on mobile.
Microsoft’s New Translation Aids for Teams
The Redmond tech giant recently announced this new feature on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. The Roadmap is Microsoft’s way to inform everyone about what it’s working on and when people can expect each feature to release.
Microsoft breaks up the new translation feature into two parts. One half is for "Microsoft Teams: Inline Message Translation in channels for Android," and the other half is for its iOS equivalent.
Whichever one you choose, the description is the same:
Inline message translation in Channels lets users translate Channel posts and replies into their preferred language. To translate a message, press-and-hold the channel post or reply and then select “Translate”. The post/reply will be translated to your UI language by default. If you want to change the translation language, go to Settings General Translation.
Both the Android and iOS versions are tagged as "In Development" and have a scheduled release date of July 2021. As such, it shouldn’t be long until you’re translating messages on mobile like a pro.
Making Communicating Easier With Microsoft Teams
If you work in a multilingual company, you’ll know how tricky it can be to navigate the language barrier and get work done. Fortunately, Microsoft Teams organizations will soon get handy translation tools on their phones, regardless of if they use Android or iOS.
Microsoft has been making great strides in the mobile translation market recently. For instance, it’s trying out a new "Group Translate" app to translate what others are saying in real-time.
