Late Monday night (April 13), Kid Cudi released his new single, “Leader of the Delinquents,’ Cudi’s first solo track since his April 2018 single “The Rage.”
In the Arkateqq & Dot Da Genius produced track, the 36-year-old rapper speaks on rebellion and drugs before getting into heavier topics like mental health.
“Hello friends, Cudder again/Gotta smack ’em with some shit before the world ends/Same old denims, worn for days/I been home makin’ jams and many wonderful waves/I see in many wondrous shades/Peekin’ out the shadows at a new landscape/I’ve been trapped in my mind, I’ve been tryna escape,” Cudi rhymes in the track’s opening.
Kid Cudi originally premiered “Leader of the Delinquents” on April 10, during an Instagram Live chat with his longtime friend, Jaden Smith.
Kid Cudi’s most recent single is projected to land on Cudi’s forthcoming project, Entergalactic. The album has yet to be slated for a specific release date but Cudi has insisted that the LP is indeed coming this year.
This will be his first solo album since Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin’ in 2016. When speaking about the upcoming LP, Cudi promised the project would live up to its title and be out of this world.
“Entergalactic will be something you’ve never experienced,” Cudi wrote on Twitter last summer about the project. “I promise it’ll be a fun ride. Lot of good friends involved. Great songs too! The cast is coming together. I know a year from now seems like forever but itll be here before u know it!”
