Bad Boys for #1
Bad Boys For Life has opened at no. 1 at the Box Office. The blockbuster film grossed an estimated $73.4 million in the U.S. during the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend and $37.3 million globally. This marks the second-best opener during MLK Jr. weekend and Sony’s biggest R-rated debut.
Starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, who reprise their roles as Miami detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, the action-comedy film comes 17 years after its predecessor, Bad Boys II, which grossed $273 million worldwide in 2003. Meanwhile, the original, Bad Boys, made its debut with $141 million.
The soundtrack inspired by the film, was released the same day (January 17). It is executive produced by DJ Khaled, who also stars in the film, features 10 tracks with contributions from Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Bryson Tiller, Jaden Smith and more.
Both Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are already on board to return for the upcoming Bad Boys 4, which is already in the works.
